It is with regret that patients will no longer be able to park on Elgar House car park. We have had to make this difficult decision as there have been instances where doctors have not been able to exit the car park in emergencies putting patient's health at risk, There has also been damage to staff cars and sadly staff have received verbal abuse.

Within the next few weeks Parking Eye, a member of the British Parking Association will be issuing fines for unauthorised vehicles parked.

Further to our recent patient survey, we have added a new phone line for prescription queries, which we hope will free up our main lines for patients who want to book appointments.  The new number is 01527 63770.

The treatment room is led by Sister Donna Heritage, with support from Sister Kathryn Whitehead and health care assistant Lesley Rushton.

Patients are able to book appointments in the treatments rooms from 08.40 - 17.40 Monday to Friday, including appointments at lunchtime.  We don't have set days for clinics as we try to make our services as accessible as we can for everyone.

We provide many services for our patients including:

Children's immunisations:  We will immunise children in accordance with the routine immunisation schedule for the UK.  We do ask that parents attend with their children when possible, however, we do understand that there are circumstances when a parent/guardian cannot attend with their child, we therefore request that written consent for immunisation is given by the parent/guardian.  A form can be down loaded here or you can ask reception for one.

Parental consent form

Travel vaccinations: It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Cervical smear testing  We recommend that all our female patients should have a smear performed every 3 years from age 25 – 49 and every 5 years from 50 – 64. The purpose of this test is to prevent cancer of the cervix.  We try to make the procedure as easy as possible and we will try to make you feel as relaxed as possible, it doesn't take very long at all, so please don't put off having it done.

Ear syringing: We recommend for anyone wanting to have their ears syringed olive oil  should be used for two weeks prior to their appointment, this can be purchased over the counter.  You do not need to see a doctor before having you ears syringed as the nurses are able to perform a full assessment to ensure that we can safely carry out the procedure.

Wound care:  We are able to assess and manage many kinds of wounds, from scratches to leg ulcers, to post operative wounds.  This service is completely nurse led, you don't need to see a doctor if you have a wound or an infection from a bite or scratch as Sister Heritage is able to fully assess prescribe  if appropriate.

Sister Heritage also runs and anti coagulation clinic for patients on warfarin, with the help of Dr Dior who is the lead GP.
