PARKING

It is with regret that patients will no longer be able to park on Elgar House car park. We have had to make this difficult decision as there have been instances where doctors have not been able to exit the car park in emergencies putting patient's health at risk, There has also been damage to staff cars and sadly staff have received verbal abuse.

Within the next few weeks Parking Eye, a member of the British Parking Association will be issuing fines for unauthorised vehicles parked.

THIS WILL ALSO APPLY WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED, i.e. AT THE WEEKEND AND BANK HOLIDAYS.

Further to our recent patient survey, we have added a new phone line for prescription queries, which we hope will free up our main lines for patients who want to book appointments.  The new number is 01527 63770.

PRESCRIPTION QUERIES

For prescription queries please call our new telephone number: 01527 63770. Please note, we do not take requests for medication over the telephone. This line is for queries only.

URGENT PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS

Due to the number of emergency prescriptions the surgery are being asked to process the GPs have had to change the rules regarding what can be requested as an urgent prescription. Please note:

It is a patient’s responsibility to order medication before running out.

From 2nd October, Elgar House GP’s will only issue urgent prescriptions for certain medications eg inhalers, epilepsy medication etc.

All other medication requests will be dealt with within 48 hours.

A request received before 11.30am will be dealt with by 4.30pm the following working day.

Medications can be requested up to 1 week ahead in most cases.

Please make sure you or your pharmacy order in plenty of time.

ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTIONS

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how the practice sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.

What does this mean for you?

If you currently collect your repeat prescriptions from the surgery you will not have to visit the surgery to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time.

You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. Please visit the pharmacy of your choice and nominate them to collect your prescription.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see either a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications.

48_hoursPlease allow two full working days between requesting and collecting your prescription from the surgery.  For deliveries and collection from a pharmacy please allow three working days.
