An emergency problem is any condition that has occurred in the last 24 hours or that has quickly deteriorated in the last 24 hours and cannot wait to be seen until the next routine appointment.

The doctor you are seeing today is on-call for the surgery and may be interrupted by phone calls and queries. They also may be called out to see a very ill patient at home in an emergency. Should this occur, it is possible that this may cause a significant wait for you to be seen.

The Emergency Doctor WILL NOT be able to deal with non-urgent ongoing problems, results, sick notes or prescription reviews. Please speak to the receptionist to book a routine appointment or telephone consultation.

It may be worth considering alternative arrangements:

  • Some conditions can be treated by the chemist, such as eye infections or skin problems. You can speak to the pharmacist for advice.
  • You can call 111 who offer medical advice 24/7,
  • If you have already seen a doctor previously about the same problem, it might be more efficient to book a routine appointment with the same doctor.
  • The Minor Injuries Unit in Bromsgrove can treat conditions such as sprains, broken bones, minor burns and head injuries.

Organising a urine specimen if you think it might be relevant. You can purchase a urine collection pot from the Pharmacy.
